My Current Status

I am as of this very moment 40 weeks, my official due date is Monday. Any moment really, and to tell you the truth, I hope that moment is sooner than later. Don't misunderstand me though, I am not really dying to get this kid out of me. I am not uncomfortable. I sleep through the night, and lately have only been getting up once to go to the bathroom if I get up at all. I have no problem getting comfortable, my back does not hurt, my legs and feet do not hurt, nothing hurts. I feel normal minus the large protruding belly. Hate me all you want; I guess I am just lucky this time around.

The reason I want the baby to make an appearance sooner than later is 3 fold. ONE: My mom is here and I want her to be able to help me figure out what to do with the kid once he's born. The longer he takes to do that, the shorter amount I have with my mom. TWO: My doctor does not like her patients to go any longer than 41 weeks, and since that is next Saturday, I will be discussing induction with my doctor on monday morning, and I don't want to be induced. THREE: I am dying to meet the little guy. Since May I have been able to feel his movements and learn his patterns. He is always with me and I am always aware of him. Everywhere I go, especially in crowds, I hold my belly to make sure no one bumps into him. I am constantly nibbling on food all day to keep the heart burn (that he is causing) at bay and to keep us both fed. My husband talks to my belly more than to my face (not really but he is really excited and tells Pete to hurry up and "get born already"). And everytime I shift from a lying down position to a sitting position, I have to readjust my belly. He has become such a part of me yet I have no idea who he is.

So, all in all, I want him to "get born already". I'm fine and comfortable with where he is now, he's low maintenance, but now I think I am ready for the "inconvenience" that I will meet, know, and love. I am ok with prospect of sleepless nights (I have been getting plently of sleep, believe you me), I am ok dealing with labor recovery, I am ok with my life becoming all about someone else.

In the mean time, let me leave with a shout out to my good friend and first immediate roomate, Valerie. She and a few other lovely ladies threw me a baby shower the other day and humored me and my love of Halloween and made it a spooky baby shower. Here are some pictures of my ripeness and what not.
