Have you heard?????

So, today was my birthday. I turned 25. Its a big age to turn, its the beginning of your late twenties. I like it, 25 is a good age. I am happy.

My mom made me a Sting of the Bee Cake for my birthday. This is my favorite cake of all time...almost. Its delicious. If you have never had it, I suggest you hop to it, buy yourself a Lion House Dessert cookbook, and make it. The cake is crumbly and deliciously dry and the buttercream is rich and unlike most buttercreams, and the raspberry jam....yum. Its best if you use HEB raspberry jam, but if you don't live in Texas near an HEB, that won't be an option. I would suggest Trader Joe's jam next. Anyways, it was delightful. I had three pieces. Ya, I said three, don't judge me. Annie, I can feel you judging me.... you too Valerie. Also, I have a husband. That husband is in NYC right now. Why is he there? Well, thats where we live of course. I am in Texas....so we spent my birthday 2000 miles apart....and it makes me sad. It is the first time in 5 years that we haven't spent my birthday together and I plan on making it the last. However, husband did surprise me, and it was a good surprise......

That's right. This morning there was a delivery of 2 dozen roses with my name on it. Oh husband.......Before I left NYC, Andy also gave me these! If you know Andy, its a big deal that he is even remotely willing to semi associate himself in any way with these books. I, of course, love them and plan on reading them to Pete when he is a little older.

My mom took me to lunch at Sugarbakers (a ladies lunch place) and shopping. I will post pictures later on of what I got. But suffice it to say I got a cute swim suit (Ashley, I got that pinkish/peach thing we saw with the ruffle!!! Its amazingly cute on! Believe me, I tried it on for fun and fell in love, the pictures later this summer will tell). She also got me this cute jacket that I was going to post the picture of from the website but the model wearing it creeped me out, so I will wait until I wear it and take a picture. It will probably be this weekend since in true Texas fashion, the temperature will plummet to the 40s on Friday. So much for 70 and sun.

So currently, I am loving cobb salad, Sting of the Bee Cake, Harry Potter all over again, husbands who buy Harry Potter for me, the pasta concoction my mom made me for my birthday, husbands and roses, surprisingly cute swimsuits that hide post c-section tummies, cute jackets, moms, babies who fill their diapers during birthday lunch and let it squirt all over, husbands again, dad who also ate three pieces to make me feel better, birthdays, 25 years and did I mention husband?

Ah Texas....

So, here we are, in Texas, having fun with Grandma and Grandpa in the warm sun, going shopping, walking and running, crafting, playing, rolling over, and missing Andy/daddy. And as it turns out, Andy/daddy is missing us too. So this post is for Andy, so he can see the boy.
Shopping on my birthday......

Helping Grandpa build his foursquare garden.....Actually, we just sat here on the swing encouraging his hard work with our minds....

Helping Grandma plant flowers in the front yard.....

He prefers to be naked, just like his momma....too much information? Probably......
A nice treat for me, my good pal and old gymnastics team mate from San Angelo came to visit me. I miss you Ashley Gay, come visit us in the big......
Just taking a nap in the bouncy chair with Melosh, the Mayor of Nappytown.......

Texas Here We Come

In fifteen minutes, my friend Susanna will be picking up Pete and myself to take us to the airport. We are going back to the homeland for the duration of tax season. March is a crazy month for Andy and we wouldn't see much of him anyways. Missing Andy when he is only 10 miles away is annoying, missing him when he is 2000 miles away is bearable, justified, and a bit romantic (though not my prefered medium of romance). So off we go. No worries, I will be posting probably more from Texas than I do now. I have to let Andy see this sweet Pete somehow. He will likely change so much over the next 3 weeks.

PS Did I mention that I would be away from Andy for 3 1/2 weeks.....well I am, and don't get me started, I have been crying all morning.
